“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”
― Mother Teresa

It’s been decades since The National Association of Broadcasters have published anything substantial on – content.

And – why not.

The industry has been punch-drunk on building platforms with national clearance in place of local strategic thinking.

There are groups which hire brilliant counsel – then only allow those to share visceral tactical thought.

Build a ship – then hand it to an inexperienced captain.  Disaster ensues.

Marketing Blogger Seth Godin often mentions community as a way to build teams – and share knowledge.

Seth ends THIS note with “Working side by side doing something that matters under adverse conditions… that’s what we need”.

Stand and applaud Dan Vallie and his National Radio Talent System in recruiting talent – but where’s the follow up?

At the local state association level, their programming in sessions often has programming tracks – but highlight extensions like podcasting and digital.

Lori Lewis outline where we are going in this year’s World Wide Radio Seminar.

“We’re spreading mediocrity.”

More platforms – less training.

Increased exposure of platforms without trained talent will only spread ‘mediocrity’.

No one has all the answers – especially in our new digital space and how it relates to traditional media.

In less than 30 days, the Indiana Broadcasters Association will convene.

During two of their sessions I’ll have the honor to share what I’ve learned.

In 38 years of media.

Much of which is borrowed from the community of readers – reading this report.

Sharing – as a community is the only way to build a future for our profession.

Let’s create some ripples and render mediocrity – extinct.

Next Up – Legend
